FAQ ON BUILD-UPS
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HAVE A MODEL BUILT AND PAINTED?
Prices vary according to size/scale and complexity of each model. Normally, I like to see photos of the unbuilt kit, so I can make the best possible determination as to cost. On average, a 1/6 scale (12" tall) figure on a simple base goes for about $175.00 plus shipping back to you. Multi-figure sets or custom dioramas are priced higher. Generally, I don't work in any smaller scales than 1/9.
HOW LONG DOES THE ENTIRE PROCESS TAKE?
All models are worked on, on a first come, first serve basis. As models come in, they are the ones started and so on. Since each model varies, according to the complexity and how much painting there is. A typical 1/6 scale figure on a base may take 3-5 days, but again, there are so many factors, such as clean-up, putty work and humidity in my area.
DO I GET ANY WORK-IN-PROGRESS INFO OR PHOTOS?
Every client receives updates, info and several WIP photos while their model is being worked on.
ONCE MY MODEL IS COMPLETED, WHAT THEN?
Once your model is complete, I send a final set of photos for your approval. Once we're all set and you are happy with the results, I then carefully pack your model. Keep in mind that any build-up requires a substantially larger box to allow for any cushioning and packing materials. The box is weighed, measured and a shipping cost is determined based on those numbers. Once we have that data, a shipping cost is sent to you. That way, you can then pay your balance along with the shipping fee.
MY MODEL ARRIVED DAMAGED, WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
I take every precaution to ensure a safe delivery, but as we all know, models can be damaged due to many factors, which of course, includes just how the shippers handle them. In the event your model arrives damaged, you should contact me as soon as possible. We can make arrangements to ship the model back for repairs, you can attempt to make the repairs yourself, or as a last resort, an insurance claim can be filed. In any case, please contact me, even if you decide to make any repairs, so that I can guide you as to what glues and paints to use for the best compatibility.
